Design Specification Sheet for Fuzzing Software 1. Overview of the Orchestrator Stack: Classical XAMP/LAMP Purpose: Acts as a GUI for users to interact with fuzzing projects. Functionalities: Create new fuzzing projects with customizable properties (target, execution time, threads, etc.). Monitor and control the status of deployed instances. Automate the transmission of corpus files to instances. Automate the collection of crash artefacts. 2. Instances - "FUZZER": Primary Language: Python Responsibilities: Register the instance with orchestator. Load the fuzzing corpus from a directory. Report instance status and fuzzing process progress. Execute the target application. Collect and send exceptions and crashes back to Maestro for centralized review and triage. 3. Detection Mechanism: Development: Combination of Python and a C executable. Library Used: libFuzzer Reporting Details: Exceptions occurred. Faulting memory address and instruction. Dump status of registers. 4. Key Considerations: Developed with ease of implementation and support for different operating systems in mind. Multithreaded application structure for efficient performance. 5. Customization and Scalability: Scalable architecture to handle multiple instances efficiently.
