Advice and creation of WAP site for mobile access

I have an existing website in which I want to use part of the content to create a mobile accessible WAP site. Initially the WAP site would consist of an introduction/home page and perhaps 3 or 4 pages of content. The pages will be in English and Chinese and on the first page, the user should be able to switch between which language they wish to view. This is my first attempt at making a WAP site so some extra advise would be welcome. My big concerns are size and proper display of Chinese. I would not like the user to wait long for pages to display on the screen.
