I found an image gallery project what works pretty well and has all the features I need. Unfortunately it can't handle Flash nor .MP4 movies. TODO: Enable the upload of .swf and .mp4 files. Test if file is really a Flash/MP4 file or else reject it. get dimensions via ffmpeg (or something else) Set a static default thumbnail for those files. enable file playback on the website. Enable OPS and Admins to upload a custom thumbnail for all files. The code is well commented and you will get ssh/phpmyadmin root access to a vm to work on. I estimate that this can be done in a day with time for lunch and a coffee break.
