Using Jabber (or some other existing, proven, scalable Instant Messaging component system) as a starting point, I would like a custom IM client developed for a private network.
IMPORTANT: IN YOUR BID, PLEASE SPECIFY PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE WITH JABBER OR OTHER IM CLIENTS/SERVERS
* This IM client does *not* have to interoperate with AOL, MSN, Yahoo, etc... it's for a private network of individuals.
* Basic functionality will be the same as the MSN Messenger client (login routine, pop-ups when message is sent, main window, plus individual chat windows, support for more than just two people in the chat room)
* However, there is no need for voice, video, whiteboard, etc or other add-on applications.
* It will need to have new graphics, to respect copyright issues, etc
* To the right of the chat window will be a web browser control. The web page in that window needs to be able to call the hosting application to give it commands -- such as 'add another participant' or 'close window', etc.
* Chat histories will need to be saved on the server in a SQL 2000 database
* Client needs to work on Windows 2000, Windows XP, and newer systems.
* Client download must be small -- preferably < 500k
* Installation program must be simple (preferably fully automated with no options)
* Overall, this needs to have the polish of MSN Messenger
* Please budget 30% of project estimate to handle changes to spec, and miscommunications, etc
* Bid needs to include server-side setup, and complete instructions for rebuilding both client and server
* Bug fixes as needed
See attached gif for IM client screenshot...
