Retrieve/intercept text from a Java app

We use a Java application running inside IE, and it uses a SunAwtCanvas class window to display text. We are looking for an application that will intercept all text this application displays. We are looking for source code to show how to accomplish this so we can integrate in our own applications. We prefer vb.net or c++, but will take this in any language if it works. If it requires low-level hooking of the Java app, or IE, that's fine. Please see the attached file for a screenshot and important additional information. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). We are looking for operational source code that shows how to intercept or read the text. Please note that Java appears to do its own rendering, and that intercepting windows messages, hooking low-level API functions such as textout(), or sending messages to the window asking for the text all do not work. Most likely this will involve some low-level knowledge of the JVM and will be a challenging and fun project! ## Platform This app will run under Windows, typically XP.
