We have 9-10 tables hosted in MySQL on Amazon RDS that we need to optimize for queries. We have been using these tables and data for a few years but now plan to query them more frequently with Tableau Software and update with Informatica Cloud. The queries are taking much too long in each of these cases because we have not optimized the DB tables. The tables have 10-30 fields each and contain demographic information, address, phone number, etc. The tables are normalized from a flat file; however you can create/change the table structures as needed to optimize and update Amazon RDS as necessary for further optimization. We don't have a schema diagram here which would be better but would like to see if we can work with what we provided above as a start.
