Resources for Children with Special Needs (RCSN) is a small NYC-based nonprofit organization, started in 1983, looking to update our logo and look & feel of our brand. Collateral we will use the logo on includes: websites, stationery, business cards, event banners, event programs, event invitations, electronic newsletters, print training materials, and possibly more.
A version of our current logo is attached. We want to redesign/update the existing logo into a more modernized version of its existing components. Our just-launched website (where we are looking to swap out the current logo)is resourcesnyc.org.
The mission of RCSN is to enhance the quality of life and promote positive outcomes for children and youth, birth through age 26, with special needs, their parents and families throughout New York City. We operate a hotline to assist parents/caregivers and "professionals" (counselors, teachers, social workers, etc.), provide trainings to help parents and professionals work together to achieve their children's goals, and sponsor events that help increase awareness in the community.
We are looking for designs, colors and typography that are friendly, cheery, welcoming, warm and inclusive of the broad diversity of populations we represent and serve: (1) NYC parents of children with disabilities - social, cognitive, physical, or behavioral - from all backgrounds (economic, racial, ethnic, language, education, etc.), and (2) the professionals who work with children with disabilities in NYC.
We also want our logo to connote the empowering nature, reliability, and "up-to-date"/freshness of the information and tools we are able to share with our constituents. So, NOT too warm and fuzzy - "kids with disabilities are cute, cuddly, and inherently lovable" is NOT what we are going for - but without feeling too sleek, modern, austere, or cold.
We'd really love to retain the red color we've used for so long, at least in part, in our rebrand.
We do NOT need to retain the "Inc." in the text of our logo.
We do NOT need to retain the current font.
