String difference algorithm in C/C++

Hello I have over 17 years of experience with C++ and Windows Desktop application development Also, I know about Hirschberg's algorithm. Perhaps, it may be applied for this task. It's not so quick algorithm. Is there any limitation about text size? I mean - is there maximal text length you are going to use? Thanks
