Hi! I would like to describe how I understand the requirement. You expect a windows desktop application with implements the following workflow: 1) user picks an excel file 2) file is uploaded into the app and presented in a grid 3) MySQL database is queried with items contained in the excel to check which items from excel files are "prohibited ones" 4) these "prohibited items" are marked inside the grid - by values in some column and possibly by highlighting the whole row in red 5) at this stage users has possibility to save the grid contents (with prohibited items indication!) to another excel file. I hope the above is clear and correct. I could write such application for you quickly. I would use DevExpress winforms components - the grid would have sorting and filtering capabilities out of the box so that you could analyze your data conveniently and effectively.
