Ok, here's the deal: I love hockey, I love to play fantasy hockey. I'm also terrible at fantasy hockey. I always lose.
I would like to hire a statician to create customized "strength" projections for every player in the NHL, and the order in which I should draft those players, based on how my fantasy hockey league assigns points.
If you have ever played fantasy sports, that will make perfect sense to you.
Basically I want a Moneyball-type method for predicting and valuating fantasy hockey players.
Ideally you would generate a list of the top 600 players across multiple positions, and then a breakdown of each position. Your methodology should be corroborated by results from previous seasons. For example, if "Number of play-off wins earned by opposing teams" has a factor of x, that assessment should play-out if applied to statistics from years past.
Makes sense? Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks!
My bid is for developing a model and only a model. You and I will have to discuss what relevant statistics might matter for fantasy hockey, and then you will have to collect the data.
