I will provide an Async class library which will raise an event when the device is connected. You can catch the event and handle the GUI behavior. I will also provide a property that can be checked as needed to determine if the device is currently connected. I've got 15+ years of .NET programming experience. Quite a bit has been related to hardware integration.

I already Have a USB Based Detection software design of my own, Which has been tested and works flawlessly. It can be tweaked very easily to your requirements. It has a very good UI appearance.
