I have hardware already that needs new code. It will send a command out on RS485 and then send that data up to an internet facing SQL database. The device needs to be configured using local RS232 port, for setting up, site name, number of RS485 devices to poll, polling interval, IP address, static or DHCP, and SQL Database path. The hardware will display the status of each RS485 on a 2 Line LCD, also show site name. The circuit diagram is attached. I also have the RS485 protocol document that will be supplied to the win bidder. The hardware is AT MEGA128 MCU with ENC28J60 Ethernet chip.

nice illustration of the task thank you and i offer you the embedded software for the RS485 protocol and ENC28J60 microchip popular Ethernet chip. also for the LCD and serial of course. normally RS485 communicating devices uses modbus RTU protocol. I used to implement modbus RS485. and for the ENC28J60 it uses SPI to interface to the controller so lets chat and go into more details
