Delete Empty Directory Folders within Directory Folder Structure

directory_folder_empty_remover

FUNCTION:

The script's function is to remove (delete) ALL empty Directory Folders within a Directory Folder Structure. If there is a file in any folder - the file and the enclosing folder must NOT be deleted.

I will be creating a script in a Filemaker database application that will provide the "Directory Folder Name" (I think you will need a UNC Path) of the directory folder as input for where your script will start its operations from.

Your script needs to operate on the "Directory Folder Name" provided by my script, and work down through the nested directory folder directory examining each folder to see if it is empty, and if it is, delete it.

I'm not sure if your script would be better (initially) to prompt the User to navigate to a directory folder to select where it should run from. I think for testing purposes I will need the ability to navigate to a folder and run it. Later, the VB Script might need to be tweeked to allow a variable passed into it based on my script that will pass the variable which would be the directory folder to run it on.

To help visually explain what I want, I have provided a compressed file with files and folders inside. Not sure if there is a size limit to uploaded here, but I will find out. In the compressed file is an “INPUT PROVIDED” folder whose contents should make it clear as to what the input is. I have also include a “OUTPUT NEEDED” folder whose contents should make it clear as to what the script should deliver as a result.

My application will be Filemaker which is a cross-platform database for Mac and PC. My script will be activated by a button on the interface that will then examine the Users platform, and branch accordingly to run the appropriate script: AppleScript for Mac OSX Users, VB Script for Windows Users.
