Deliverability Consultant: Exim / Postfix MTA Setup & Config

We have a large double opt-in database that we would like to mail from our own servers.

I'm looking for someone who can setup a mail server + postfix or exim and also probably a front-end like Interspire or ActiveCampaign or OEMPro. The thing about "front-ends" like Interspire, AC, OEMPro is I hear they can slow down delivery and it may be best to use "desktop mailing" but I am not clear on what this means.

We need the setup to include optimization for speed. For example, with Posfix, it is said that speed of 2500 messages can be sent per minute: "using postfix, dual core 2.5GHz, 2gb ram, dual SATAII drives. You need to get mysql to use the primary drive and put the mail queue on the secondary drive. This makes a big difference to performance."

I therefore will need suggestions on server selection, etc.

Next, we need the configuration to be setup so that it throttles delivery, rotates IPs, and is generally setup to eventually be whitelisted and send with great volume AND inboxing to Hotmail, Yahoo, AOL & Gmail.

I also need information on any tweaks needed with other domains. For example, some domains may give a response code because of "limits" so we'd like to stop sending automatically.

For example, this might use this: "There is a new option in postfix 2.7, sender_dependent_default_transport_maps

Basically it lets you set IPs based on 'From:' address/domain, so if your mailer can switch up the From, you can effectively rotate."

Or, for example we may need instruction on how many "class c IPs" we need per server and we may need to run "multiple instances of exim on 2 different ports" or something like this.

Also, we need to understand the delivery limits of each of the 4 majors (Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail, AOL) and how to configure the servers to respond to them, along with any EXTERNAL things we need to do.

For example, see the first "answer" to this post (please read this):

So, it goes through things to do to improve Hotmail delivery. Need guidance on these.

Other considerations must be given for Yahoo delivery and inboxing like IP reputation, messages per IP, connections at one time, etc. etc. - we need this in place. Perhaps we can even start out with machines for each of the major providers if they require their own configuration file.

You should have experience delivering (and inboxing) with major ISPs a lot of volume and be able to explain these things you are setting up in detail. In the interview, of course, we will evaluate who can really do this.

For example, here is a post explaining someone who needs inbox help as well:

Also read this please carefully, as I want something similar:

http://www.freelancer.com/projects/System-Admin-Linux/Deliverability-Constultant-Exim-MTA.html

I need similar things done along with explanation so I can do it step by step:

- rDNS setup

- SMTP without Auth (recommended?) or SMTP accounts

- how to handle bounces(?)

- how to deal with any mysql errors, backed up queues, other errors

- setup domainkeys and spf records (for yahoo, and every provider)

- how to monitor domains & ip reputation and not become "spam"

There should be instruction on the general "warming up" of ips and modifications to either postfix or exim to help with this. Also, with domains and how they are used in the "from field", body of the email, for IPs, etc. (we've heard this is needed)

You also should be knowledgeable on setup, of course. You should be able to write a text file, or simply tell me, how to do each portion - so it can be done again by me in the future. Most likely, I will be doing each step so I know how to do it and we will be talking back and forth. There may be other things missing, which you would obviously fill in.

Thanks a lot and good luck! Let me know your experience.
