Mysql problem with BLOB and INSTR/LIKE

Im trying get in an array all data1 that found search1 in the table dbtable1: $q = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM dbtable1 WHERE INSTR(data1, 'search1')") ; I also tried with: $q = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM dbtable1 WHERE data1 LIKE '%search1%'"); but i dont get results and im sure that some data1 in my db have the string that im searching in search1. maybe i have an error int he syntax. thanks.

I have 7 years of experience troubleshooting MySQL problems like this one. I will send you a script to include just before your call to mysql_query to collect information about the database and the connection. If the data collected is insufficient to pinpoint the cause of the problem, further data collection may be needed. I will explain why INSTR and LIKE do not produce the expected result and what modifications to the SELECT statement are possible to obtain the expected result.
