VB.net - IDownloadManager - Internet Explorer Addon

I'm looking to develop a VB.net internet explorer add-on. The add-on will implement the IDownloadManager interface and completely replace the current IE Download Manager on IE 5.5 and 6. As far as functionality; the application must register with internet explorer /windows so it can replace the current download manager. The new download manager will function and look exactly the same as the current IE download manager. Progress bar, save as, open button, etc. A transparent duplicate. The only additional feature I would like to add (if it’s even possible) is an inline MD5 checker. I don’t want it to check the MD5 after completion, that’s to slow on big files. I want it to calculate the checksum as it downloads (inline) and report the checksum via an msgbox upon download completion.
