There are two parts to this job: 1. Functional demo. You must configure FFMPEG to either accept or pull a live WMV or RealPlayer stream from a remote server and output the video as a progressive download live FLV file using FFSERVER if necessary. If this requires any scripting languages, you should use Python. We will provide server access, sample streams, and an FLV file tester. Deliverables include all source code involved in scripting the above functionality, configuration files for FFMPEG, and documentation that clearly explains the modification to original or default configuration files. 2. Scaling analysis. You must run tests to determine how many WMV or RealPlayer streams can be simultaneously transcoded on the given hardware platform. Tests should include running many parallel instances of FFMPEG and optimizing os and application level parameters to increase peroformance. You should conduct detailed analysis of the server resources required to transcode each stream and report your results in your documentation. Again, use Python for any necessary scripting. Deliverables include documentation of performance tests and estimates of the numbers of simultaneous WMV or RealPlayer streams that could be simultaneously transcoded on the given hardware platform.
## Deliverables
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables):
a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
## Platform
Debian Linux, recent 2.6 kernel. Your development environment includes access to a test server, so you can easily check that your code runs on the target platform.
