GAME ENGINE and website for Text Based Maze games. ===================================== DESCRIPTION : This project shouldn't be too complicated. Basically the engine just needs to allow for the creation of Text based Maze Games by adding data to Database tables through an admin interface and creating a script with conditional statements and functions etc for game play which will update database for each player's progess in the game. ******PLEASE READ CAREFULLY AND UNDERSTAND THE PROJECT BEFORE BIDDING.******* These "MAZES" are basically a collection of "LOCATIONS" which may contain"ITEMS" that "PLAYERS" can collect (add to their INVENTORY) and use through "ACTIONS" in specific locations which will cause a "RESPONSE" (which is a function) MySQL ============= Suggested DATABASE TABLES ------------------------------------- a) Players b) Locations c) Join_To d) Items e) Player Invetory f) Actions + Responses g) Default Response list for non-applicable actions h) Player log file i) Scores j) Hi_Scores PHP & HTML =============== The ACTION table will store a list of created actions along with the RESPONSE Code. RESPONSES Responses will be functions such as: - moving a player to another location, - adding an item to player's inventory - the result of using an item which may open a door (direction) or remove an obstacle etc. - display additional info about the location (- interaction with in-game characters -- planned for future upgrades) ACTIONS will modify data in Database Tables as required. Output only to Mazes and Hi-Score Pages Admin should not show on menu but should be accessible by http://domainnameformaze/admin GAME ENGINE CREATION INTERFACE - admin INTERFACE ========================== This section will require password protection Admin login... The engine will create "MAZES" by way of menu driven interface with options such as: MENU 1 - Game Creation 1. Create new MAZE (each maze should be created in a sub-domain or seperate folder - Hosting will be provided) 2. Add / Edit a LOCATION - create a location in the maze 3. Add / Edit a JOIN_TO - specify adjoining locations to an existing location 4. Add / Edit an ITEM - add item at a specific location 5, Add / Edit an ACTION & RESPONSE - add at specific location 6. Delete a Maze The above options will add data to the Databse Tables as required. As new Mazes are created, they will need to be added to a webpage which list available Mazes to play MENU 2 - Admin Options The folowing reports to be extracted from Database, 1. List Players in Mazes Report 2. List Mazes - information about created mazes 3. List Player Logs PLAYER INTERFACE ============================ The player interface will display : 1. the location description in the center of the screen , with an action box (input text box) below it and arrows (.gif images) ponting in the direction of adjoining locations.
