Assembla represents a VC funded Silicon Valley software startup seeking to expand its development team with offshore talent. The company is building an application service to automate certain aspects of online marketing and ecommerce. The product is a J2EE Web application running on Linux, MySQL, Jetty and JBOSS, with a JSP/Struts presentation layer. The company has released a beta 1 version of the application, created by an experienced in-house team of four developers. The company seeks to accelerate its development by adding up additional remote members to the development team. New remote team members should match the high level of talent present in the existing team. These developers will be responsible for adding and enhancing specific features, working on the database, EJB, business logic, and presentation layers for those features. They will be responsible for mockup, unit-level object design, and unit tests for the features they are working on. They will also be responsible for upgrading the current output pages to match an improved graphic design. Development takes place on a Linux workstation. The developers will participate in a daily build and test cycle managed by the client, with frequent online communications. The developers may be located in any place with high-speed Internet access. The job starts immediately. SKILL REQUIREMENTS * Talented and productive java programmers with EJB experience, JSP experience, and object modeling capability. * Experience with high-volume Web application services. * HTML mockup capability. * Experience with xDoclets, Struts, Tiles, and Jakarta Tag Libs is useful * Experience working on a distributed development project, commercial or open source. * Build automation. * Manual and automated testing. * Basic database modeling and administration.
