Create PHP/AJAX/JSCRIPT dynamic chart from database

I need help to create bar/combo chart function for a web page. The chart will be based on data from a MySQL database and be automatically updated every five minutes when the chart is shown.
Please look at [url removed, login to view] (you can of course translate it with Google Translater for easier understanding). There you will see the data in table format. The parts "Statistik över senaste dygnet" and "Statistik över senaste veckan" have to be changed to charts. I prefer if the two tables can be changed to one chart with a drop down menu where the user can select to show data for last six hours, last 12 hours, last 24 hours, last three days, last week, last two weeks, last month and last year. The animal numbers have to be shown as link to a file named [url removed, login to view]"the animal id in full length".
The chart can be based on a well known script like Google Charts, phpCharts etc. I want it to work in a responsive environment and it will probably be included in a joomla theme like [url removed, login to view] but the code must work stand alone as well.
Of course, the code for the page I linked to will be given to the coder to make the sql part easier.
