RFP for the Development of a Custom ISP Solution for a Global Organization
We are seeking proposals from skilled network engineers and consultants to develop a custom Internet Service Provider (ISP) solution tailored to a global organization with 30 to 120 locations worldwide, each housing up to 400 employees. The primary objective is to securely analyze internet access activities of employees using smartphones and computers, ensuring comprehensive insight into access patterns across the organization.
Project Overview:
The solution will centralize traffic from all locations to the organization’s headquarters using VPNs, post which, traffic will be directed through a router or switch supporting Flexible NetFlow, before exiting to the internet via CGNAT (Carrier-Grade NAT). The organization plans to deploy Fortigate-201F units at the headquarters and Fortigate-60F units at each location, with IPSec connections envisioned for secure site-to-site communication.
Requirements:
Traffic Analysis and Bandwidth Management: Utilize Flexible NetFlow for traffic analysis to identify individual flow data, enabling the identification of excessive usage by individuals. Implement mechanisms using MQC, Traffic Shaper, and Rate Limiting to enforce bandwidth restrictions for identified individuals exceeding their allotted bandwidth.
Dynamic Bandwidth Control for Locations: Develop a system to manage internet access based on preset maximum data usage (e.g., 1TB) per location. The system should automatically adjust the maximum speed of the entire location's internet access to predefined thresholds (e.g., reduce to XX Mbps after 50% data usage and YY Mbps after 75% usage).
Redundant Configuration: Ensure redundancy in the deployment of CGNAT, Fortigate-201F units at the headquarters, FlexibleNetflow, and management servers to maintain uninterrupted service and data integrity.
Future-Proofing: The solution should be forward-compatible with IPv6 to accommodate future network upgrades without significant overhauls.
Proposal Requirements:
Network Equipment Selection: Provide recommendations for network equipment models and licensing types that are currently active (not EOL) and offer cost-effective solutions for the proposed infrastructure.
Network Diagram: Include a detailed network configuration diagram illustrating the proposed solution, including all connections, devices, and redundancy measures.
Cost Estimate: Offer an estimated cost for the purchase of the required network equipment, taking into consideration the need for a cost-effective approach that does not compromise on functionality or future scalability.
Submission Guidelines:
Proposals should be comprehensive, detailing your approach to meeting the project’s objectives, including technical specifications, projected timelines, and a clear breakdown of estimated costs. Please ensure that your proposal is prepared in English and submitted by end of feb. 2024.
