Basic Operation
The main functionality of the program is automating Microsoft Word to create mail merge documents. It does this by first creating a temporary file in the systems default temp file location then using a hidden window with Word to merge data. Once the data is merged it displays the end result merge document which can be saved, printed, etc.
Program notes
Installation
Installation of this program requires the Microsoft .Net Framework 4 Client Profile. The program should prompt about this requirement during installation if it is not detected. The program can be installed to any directory and will create an icon on the user’s desktop.
Upon first start the program will prompt for the location of the “WPC [login to view URL]” database. This can be entered as a drive location (i.e. x:\files\WPC [login to view URL]) but it is recommended it is entered as a UNC such as \\Server\Share\WPC history.mdb. Once the database is selected the program will save this setting and close. Upon the next opening it will use this location as long as it finds the database. If the database location is ever moved or there is a issue accessing it the program will prompt for a new location.
Issues we are having
Because the program is automating Word in the background (in a hidden window) any problems encountered may cause a copy of word to stay resident in memory. There are two solutions to this, either reboot the computer or open up task manager and kill any [login to view URL] process found.
Changes where made to this software 5 years ago, we want to get it to work with new 64 bit and 32 bit systems and office suite software.
listed here are the changes that where made.
Application was received as a VB.Net 2003 project labeled as version 4.5 per internal code. Customer states following issues/changes requested:
Application should prompt for a database location if database is not found or is not available. Currently program is hard coded for database location. Mail Merge functionality no longer works.

hi,
I am interested to develop a .net application to process mail merge data from access database. Please see my previous work in my profile and let me work with you.
Thanks
