Social, Language-Learning Application by Leading Startup

VidaLingua is a leading developer of language apps with over 8 million downloads from the iTunes and Google Play. We are on a mission to bring language apps to life by putting users at the center of the learning experience. PhraseMates is a social phrasebook for students and travelers. Users can find phrases in a huge database, star favorites, add phrases, share phrases and ask other users to translate phrases. With PhraseMates, you can Learn a Language, Make a Friend and Expand your World.© We are looking for an iOS developer who is passionate about coding and bringing people together through amazing social apps. It’s ok if you speak Swift better than English, as long our mission resonates with you and you are motivated to be part of it. The project consists of developing the iOS version of PhraseMates according to our specification, which will be shared with candidates that make the short list. The application can be developed in Swift, Objective C or a combination. An API will be provided with queries to access back-end data residing in a Postgres. The project is not location dependent. The developer can work from anywhere and the schedule is flexible. Weekly online meetings will be required to insure progress is being made. Other technical skills which could be helpful, but which are not required for this project include Javascript, Node.js, Android native app development, Postgress or similar technologies. We are open to working with freelancers and moonlighters anywhere in the world. The key requirement is passion for coding and bringing people together through amazing apps. Demonstrable interest in language and travel is a plus. If chosen for the project, you will work directly with the founder and CEO, as well as the lead developer of the Android version and an experienced technical advisor. This project offers the opportunity to master the the latest iOS9 APIs including the Apple Search deep linking to expose app data to Safari searches. VidaLingua dictionaries have been downloaded by over 8.2 million users. We will promote PhraseMates through our dictionary apps.
