Myanmar Election News and Information Android App

7Day News is is one of the top newspapers organisations in Myanmar, S.E. Asia. With the General Elections taking place on November 8 2015 with Nobel laureate D Aung San Suu Kyi participating, this is one of the most important elections in history. 7Day News wishes to launch a basic news app to provide news and information to its readers in a simple manner. Name of app: 7Day Elections Platform: Android Language: Burmese (Myanmar) Name of newspaper: 7Day Daily Newspaper Website of newspaper: [login to view URL] Myanmar’s General Election Day is currently scheduled on 8th November 2015. We would like to launch the app as soon as possible. We would like to get the developer’s feedback on the number of features / contents which we can include in possible project periods of two, three or four weeks. We have set a budget. Just as with time, please advise what contents and features are possible within the budget allotted. Design considerations, visual expectations The following is a list of design considerations and expectations we have for the app. Our vision is that the app is easy and light, and follows a minimalist interface, emphasising on the contents of each screen. (1) The Burmese language is quite wordy. Therefore menus need to accommodate long text strings. (2) Burmese font glyphs are serif-y. Writen in left-to-right (just like roman). Line and word spacing are key to a visually pleasing, and easy to read experience. (3) Some characters are stacked on top of each other. Line height needs to accommodate that (1.2x of normal), otherwise words end up overlapping. (4) We’d like a really great user experience, really easy and intuitive navigation elements, a great user interface. But we could settle for some standard/basic navigation menus and items if time/budget doesn’t allow. Inspirations We are inspired by apps like Pocket, Zite, Flipboard for their simplistic reading experience. Conclusion We are looking forward to working with talented designer(s) and developer(s) for our app. This is our first time on this freelance website, so we will be learning as we go along, and would much appreciate your support.
