Coin regognizion

Hi, I am interested in this project as i im working in image processing since last three years. I have also implemented various image provessing algorithms including machine learning like SVM, PCA, Bay's Rules etc. For coin detection what you are thinking to use like Nural Network or ANN ro only feature detection ?. I'd use OpenCV C++, in which I have much experience in these types of projects. please send details. I'll be able to provide more detailed processing pipeline and milestones when I get the project details. Probably an initial step to do a perspective transform and then find the circles. A feature-based recognizer based on the kinds of coins expected would be applied to the detected circles. Perhaps also some heuristics based on relative coin size, depending on context.

I'd need the specs to elaborate on how I'll solve it exactly. Detecting the coins is the simple part, most issues arise from the capturing situation e.g. changing light situations, shaking camera etc. can make it quite a challenge.
