We have an Excel file with macros (XLSM). Download resource manager for excel from [login to view URL]
Problem happens across multiple versions of Excel and OS.
When downloaded from our website, or emailed, and the user tries to open the xlsm file, the first prompt is for:
ENABLE EDITING
After you click this, to enable editing, the screen goes blank pretty much but prompts second button for
ENABLE CONTENT
Enable Content is for enabling the VBA Macros.
At this point, Excel is frozen. And, you have to task manager to quit Excel. It seems actually frozen after enable editing even though you can still press the enable content button.
THEN – if you run Excel again and open file, it is FINE! Even though it was never ‘saved’ by the user.
However, this is NOT acceptable solution for new users downloading.
I tried under Trust Center, Protected View and Unchecked enable protected view for files originating from the internet, and this SOLVED the problem on MY pc but this is NOT acceptable for new users – to have to disable trust center settings.
And, I tried to Macro Security to enable ALL Macros and this worked as well but this is NOT acceptable for new users – to have to change macro security settings.
Any solution ideas?
Also -- tried to add a blank module, save, and exit.
I have 4 years experience in Excel VBA, VB, Google Spreadsheet, Google Spreadsheet Script, JS and more than 10 years in Excel.
