I would like to alter a retro style phone so that when the handset is picked up, it plays an automated pre-recorded message down the headset earpiece. The phone will not be connected to a phone line (unless necessary) nor will the microphone need to work. I can supply all materials.

Hello. I can make design of that device and demonstrate working prototype it in Skype. Also i can make it for you, put inside of old telephone and send it by mail. In that case i will need more time to purchase "retro-style" telephone and install the device inside. The price in that case will depend of required (and available) model of telephone and behaviour of device. Total price for working device and delivery by regular mail will be about 100 GBP.
