Natural Energy Boosters - Basic Knowledge
Quality sleep as a natural energy booster
In today's fast paced life most people have become aware of the importance of good health, strength and energy. A lot is a stake if your mind is not alert and your body not active. Also, more people have come to prefer natural energy boosters instead of chemically induced energy boosters. Medical Practitioners recommend particular diets and prescribe multivitamins to help the body increase energy levels. It is a sad reality that in the current unpleasant economic circumstances chemical energy boosters can be costly and difficult to get. In addition, some skeptics question the efficacy of chemical energy boosters.
As an alternative one can resort to cost effective and natural practices that boost energy levels. As obvious as the need for quality sleep may appear, many people still attempt to live above it. Sleeping is one of the most ignored, yet effective natural energy booster that affects the productivity of the body, soul and mind. Many people have walked into a doctor's office and were surprised when the doctor, instead of prescribing drugs for them, remarked that they should get quality sleep.
Lack of quality sleep can be linked to health risk factors such as insomnia, anxiety and depression. A person who is sleep deprived can also be irritable, tired, moody and unproductive. An article by Harvard School of Public health claim that lack of sleep can be linked to obesity, whereas, other sleep experts add that lack of sleep can be linked to Diabetes, Heart Disease, Hypertension and tensions within the immune system.
Although we are not entirely sure why we sleep, we are 100% sure about our need to sleep. Quality sleep boosts natural energy by allowing the body to repair muscles, consolidate memory and release hormones that controls growth and appetite. Thus, a quality sleep will result in a healthy and energetic body, and an alert mind. Below are steps you can take to boost your energy levels naturally through quality sleep.
Plan your sleeping routine
Normally we sleep because we are tired or it is late in the night or we have nothing else to do. It is reported that inconsistent sleep patterns may contribute to sleeping disorder that will ultimately cause one to suffer fatigue or low energy. Lack of a good sleep tortures your mind and your body and a tortured mind and body affects your mood, thinking capacity and efficiency. When your body is strong and your mind alert, you reign with the ability to put effort and enthusiasm into any activity that demands it.
For years doctors have recommended sleeping at least eight hours per night to reap the rewards of sleeping, however, some reports state that other people may get opposite results for sleeping over seven hours. This means you have to know how your body responds to sleep. Other people claim that they feel tired and drowsy if they sleep for long hours than usual. This notion is attested by reports that claim that an adult who sleeps more than eight hours is likely to wake up feeling exhausted.
To curb the effects of lack of sleeping or over sleeping, create a specific bedtime routine or ritual. You need to know the sleeping hours your body needs to rejuvenate. You also need to be conscious of how much time your body requires to rewind before you fall asleep. If you need seven hours sleep and you usually spent an hour on bed before you fall asleep, go to bed an hour earlier. Be regular with the time you sleep and wake up.
Avoid screens before you sleep
Before you sleep, stay away from TV and computer screens. You can use this time to read a book instead of disrupting the brain chemistry with too much light from the screens.
Sleeping experts advise people to read a book before they sleep instead of working on the computer or watching TV. However, you need to be selective of what you read before bed time. Stay away from horror or crime fiction books as such books may contribute to bad dreams that may deprive you of quality sleep. Read a book that will invoke positive emotions like hope, peace or joy. Negative emotions consume too much energy, whilst positive emotions can be a great source of natural energy. Motivational books, self-help manuals and good romance stories are preferable reads before bedtime.
