For this writing assignment, consider the question of the importance of writing and reading in early American Puritan society and how that relates to modern American attitudes about education. Try to think about this question for yourself based upon your reading of the texts, and not just based upon what you know generally about Puritan culture. What can you deduce from the readings about the value of reading, writing, and education to Puritan society? How does that connect to today? Your writing should have TWO parts, as you have a two-part question to respond to.
