create pdf and add it as attachment to php mail function

I have a script that queries a database and then sends emails to the query output. I need to add an attachment to this php function:

I tried adding this to the parameters, but it did not work:
$attachment = chunk_split(base64_encode(file_get_contents("[url removed, login to view]")));
I need to actually create the PDF file where you can dynamically enter in some details such as name, email, etc from the query and then attach that to the email. The PDF invoices should be personalized for each recipient.
