I have win 2000 installed on a Dedicated Server. I am currently setup on a workgroup.
I want to setup Active Directory, but it's failing.
Here's what I do:
(also see attachment screenshots)
1- I run DC Promo.
2- I enter the DNS Name from my computer setting. I leave the BIOS to the default name generated (first part of DNS Name)
2- I select the defaults for a new domain setup from the wizard (new tree, new forest etc...).
2- I go through the windows that prompt for AD storage (C:\WINNT\NTDS...)
3- I select "Permissions compatible with pre-Windows 2000 servers".
4- I finish wizard using all defaults, and assign a password
RESULT: Configuration for AD starts, runs, then I get this error:
"The operation failed with the following error:
"The system cannot find the path specified."
Any idea why?
