I am creating programs that will be browser based and the customer can purchase the application and run it on their intranet server or on public servers. I need to be able to give certified users an installation program that will add a drop down button (similar to google's) to the user's browser.
Therefore, I need a vb.net program that will do the following:
when executed it will:
Consume a web service from my web site that will return a GUID based on a user name, password, and authorization code entered. The GUID returned will be added into the user's system registry. The registry entry will need to contain a base URL that will also be passed back from the web service. Also returned from the web service is a list of available options. Each of these options will contain a url and title.
After receiving the GUID and base url - the program will need to create and add a button to the default browser that has a drop list of options available to the user. These are the options returned in the web service in step 1.
When clicked, the button will allow the user to access specific urls (in the user's registry based on the returned GUID from above). This URL will launch a web site (either local intranet or public web site).
For example:
Option one may be "login" and the url would be ["[login to view URL]][1]"
Option two may be "Accounts" and the url would be "[[login to view URL]][2]"
When the user clicks the first drop list option they would be directed to a web page that allows them to login into the system.
If they clicked on the second option, they would be directed to the accounts page.
I will need the ability to modify the code so additional options can be added later in the development process.
