Application for Accessing Database Information over a PDA/Smart Phone Browser

We have remote monitor units in the field that connect to a Main server application via TCP/IP over a cellular network connection. The server application runs on a windows2K3 box and stores values polled from those field units to a FirebirdSQL database. Our clients currently are limited to using a windows terminal server connection to the win2K3 server to access the data polled from the units in the field using a very convoluted set of SQL instructions that requires pulling the firebird db's data into MS Access and displaying the data in an access data page formatted to fit within a PDA window. A little Clunky! We need an application for PDA's & smartphones, that: a) Bypasses the need to terminal into the Win2k3 server to send queries and receive data from the Firebird db, b) Is browser based or JAVA based so that it's as platform independent as can be. c) Allows for client PDA/smartphone users with a way to greatly customize how and what data is displayed, and how they wish to see it on their portable device (variable sizes, customized report design, graphics, charts, etc.) d) Works fast, looks good! An existing framework for how the procedure works now can be demonstrated to those willing to sign an NDA. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Preferably platform independent application or browser based application for smart phones and PDA's.
