Add new Joomla Component

i have added a real estate component called mister estate, it works but not good enough, i need a new real estate component on the which is a more user freindly, can you help?

Currently i have joomla 1.0 installed in the server. (I think)

If you have to change the version I don’t mind you can do so, bear in mind I have a joomla template on the live site which I am currently using, along with contents uploaded on the site. Please let me know if the template and the contents can be preserved.
