Code to modify a PDF

I need a java method which will modify a PDF file by stamping additional text onto the existing pages. The inputs will be the name of the PDF file, the name of the output PDF file, and one or more items of text to stamp. Each item of text to stamp will include a page number and the x,y coordinates at which to write the text, the text itself, and the characteristics (font, size, italic/bold, color) in which to write the text. One bidder asked if he can use an 'external library'. We are perfectly ok with packaging some of your own code as an external library. However, if the external library is third-party, this may or may not be acceptable according to the licensing terms for the third-party library. You will have to tell us which library so that we can examine the licensing terms. We already identified one vendor who has a library which could provide this function, however the licensing terms are too burdensome for us to incorporate in our software. This is why we are looking for a custom solution. Our hope is that for someone already familiar with coding against PDF format, adding some additional text to a page is a simple problem. If this is not the case, we may have to consider solutions involving a commercial package. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Java 1.4, Windows environment.
