We have an android based TV box which we are working on. One of the features required is automatic updates. This freelancer project is for that feature. Deadline of the project is 1st of October.
Description: We're looking for a simple app to be made which will be packaged into the android firmware using the Allwinner SDK. Whenever the device boots up, the app will run in the background and do the following:
1. Checks the server for last version
2. If the latest version is higher than installed version (new version is available), It will download the latest firmware package archive from the server
3. The app will then prompt the user asking them if they want to proceed with update or not.
4. If they want to proceed with update, the app will reboot and flash the new android firmware. If not, the popup will go away and come up at next check.
The update check is done on each boot + every 1 hour of the device being online.
On the server side of things, all setup is done. Only the client APK for OTA Updates needs to be made.
