I have created WCF REST services that were consumed by mobile devices or WCF/Web services that were used in the educational domain or by travel agencies. The user + password can be included in a custom SOAP header or Message header. Based on your requirements, a standard web service will be appropriate. Hello, I have some adicional questions: 1 - What DBMS are you using? SQL Server ? Oracle? NoSQL ? Other? 2 - If using SQL Server, do you have any constraint regarding the data access? Can one use an ORM mapper such as Entity Framework? 3 - You already stated that you don't care wether one uses ASMX or WCF, however does this also apply if one would recommend using Web API. I'll reformulate my question, do you have any special preference on the type of data that the Webservice should output (SOAP, XML, Json). This leads me to another question: 4 - Wich are the expected platforms/apps that will consume the webservice? Are the apps essentialy web apps, mobile apps, etc? If that is so, I would recommend ASP.NET Web API for it's RESTfulness. Thank you!

Hi, I am senior web developer with experience of building complex systems with technologies that you require and i can build excellent solution for you. For your needs i would propose WebAPI as access point to that solution if that suits your needs. Database and business layer of that solution would consist of Entity framework for a data access and SOA architecture for business logic.
