Hello I have worked extensively in solr (3.x and 4.x) for the last 4 years and also with mysql/sqlserver and others in both linux and windows environments. I am also familiar with reading and evaluation system logs from apache, mysql and solr as well so I can help figure out why your solr instance is not responding.
