Animate SVG group elements individually using D3.js

I have an SVG file that I would like to load into a HTML page. The svg file is a wheel with 3 circles and each circle has a number of sections. When any section in that circle is clicked, that section needs to zoom/animate to the center/front of the screen. And a another click can take it back to its original location. I have it working with some basic animations and just need the zoom/transform part fixed.
Anyone good in D3.js should be able to fix this quickly.
