Design and layout for a perfect-bound book

We have completed a manuscript for a 120 page (approximately 30,000 words, and 40 - 50 figures, photos, graphs) perfect bound, four-color, 6” x 9” book that we’ll have printed in quantity. We need a designer who has had book design and layout experience. In addition, we need an individual who is deadline and quality focused, is willing to work with us to refine the design to our needs, and is responsive when we need to communicate (which will be often). The following tasks will be required:
-- Cover design (front, spine, and back)
-- Body design including text body layout, headers and footer design, section head design, typeface selection, color and style selection, line spacing to meet our page count objectives (we’d like three alternative designs from which we can iterate and then choose)
-- creation of no more than 10 – 15 graphic illustrations
-- text and graphics layout once the design is solidified
-- index layout
-- production of hi-resolution pdf to be used by our printer
The designer we choose MUST produce output that is high resolution pdf (for our printer). All files become our property.
Please provide us with a summary of your book design experience, along with a few sample designs (if possible). Our need is immediate, so this project will begin as soon as we select a designer.
