Create Custom Magento Report based on Product Option Custom Attribute

We're looking to create a custom report that allows reconciling cost of goods sold with order data - e.g. an order grid that contains the product option's custom attribute "cost" as a sum for each reporting period. A custom attribute named "cost" has been added to every custom option in our catalog (there is now a "cost" column in the catalog_product_option_type_value table). Essentially, what I need in the report is as follows: (a line for each reporting period, based on a custom date range that allows me to show results by day, month, or year) # of orders during the period (not including canceled/refunded orders) # of items ordered during the period (not including canceled/refunded items) total revenue during the period (based on base_row_total, not including canceled/refunded revenue) total cost during the period (sum of all costs based on all items ordered during the period, not including canceled/refunded cost) total shipping cost (=[# of orders * $1.50]+[# of items * $4.50], not including canceled/refunded cost) The report should have a separate link in the adminhtml menu (along with acl permissions listed in config->permissions->roles->resources) so I can give access to specific Magento roles after it is installed. I need this report to be created on a development server (which you need to provide) and then make it transferable to my live server (which I will do with your instruction). To do this, use any existing installation of Magento and just add the column "cost" to the catalog_product_option_type_value table - then you can put in sample values for cost. My assumption is that you will need to write custom renderers, as the product_option data in the sales_flat_order_item table is serialized (which is a pain). This job will not be considered complete until the report is functioning on my live server. Please feel free to ask questions. Thank you for looking!
