This project is to run each word in a dictionary through a web search tool, and generate a spreadsheet of the results, indicating whether the word led to a hit or not in the results, and some other data. If the freelancer has the skills to do part of the project (run the search, but not filter the dictionary, or vice versa) then please bid and indicate what work you will do. This could be broken into two parts. The dictionary file is a .txt file with a different word on each line, about 150,000 words. Filter the dictionary to reduce it's size before searching, this may reduce it to less than 100,000 words. 1. Filter the dictionary file to delete any words with the apostrophe (single quote or ' symbol) followed by the letter "s" (single quote or ' symbol). This is to eliminate possessive words. 2. Filter the dictionary file to delete any words ending in the letter s, but ONLY when the prior word is the same except for the s. a. Example: kaleidoscope (keep); kaleidoscopes (delete); kaleidoscope's (delete) 3. Filter the dictionary to delete any words that are capitalized versions of the same word before. (When "Tao" follows "tao", delete "Tao"). 4. Other capitalized words (that do not have the same word uncapitalized) are to be flagged in the Excel results file (see below). Run each word through this search: 1. Go to [login to view URL] 2. Under "Tools" click "TESS SEARCH TRADEMARKS" 3. Under "Select A Search Option" click "Word and/or Design Mark Search (Structured)" a. Enter the dictionary word (and every other word) into the first "Search Term" box. b. Select "Basic Index (combined MP, PN, MN)" in the first "Field:" box. c. Set "Operator" to "AND" d. Enter "013" in the second "Search Term" box. e. Select "International Class" in the second "Field:" box. 4. Record the following information about the results. a. If ***no hits*** are found, it will direct to a page giving "TESS - Error" in the webpage title, and having the text: "No TESS records were found to match the criteria of your query." The Excel entry for this should include the word, and a flag in a "no hits" column. b. If only ***one hit*** is found, it will direct to a page having the text: "Record 1 out of 1" The Excel entry for this should include the word, and in a column entitled "owner" enter all the data following the word "Owner" on the page c. I more than one hit is found, it will direct to a page having the text: "# Records(s) found (This page: 1 ~ ##)." The Excel entry for this should include the word, and in a column entitled "# Hits" enter the number of records found. The deliverable file is: An Excel file with a line for each dictionary word after the deletions due to filtering. The column headings will be: 1. "Word" (for each word) 2. "Cap" (flag if capitalized, blank if uncapitalized) 3. "No Hits" (flag if no hits, blank if one or more hits) 4. "Owner" (owner data from search results if only one hit, blank if no hits of multiple hits) 5. "Number" (Number of Records found if multiple hits, blank of no hits or one hit) 6. "Length" (The number of letters in the word)
