Screw compressors with VSD

I have an ammonia cooling system with 2 oil injected screw compressors running in parallel operation both with soft-starters. Each compressor has a cooling capacity of 70KW. They are driven by asynchronous motor each having a power rating of 37KW. The capacity of each compressors are adapted by means of a solenoid valve in the compressor which when energized gives 50% capacity and when de-energized gives 25% capacity. The two motors run at maximum RPM that is 2940RPM. I want a feasibilty study with simulations and proofs if we can run the motors with VSD instead of soft-starters. How can the system be improved in terms of power efficiency? All documentations will be provided. Knowledge on industrial refrigeration is highly preferred.
