This is something I want to do from long time ago, so I will put extra care selecting the best parts and testing them on a simulation ;) By the way there are some (maybe cheaper solutions), for example check in ebay the solar-usb-battery powered, under 5 usd! with all the electronics you need!

Dear Employer, I have read your requirement and am confident that I can design and prototype the circuit for you. Based on my experience, the UPS requires charging, DC to DC boost converter and an efficient power management circuit. I also realized that the manufacturing cost could be a concern with all above implemented. Basically, the manufacturing cost would be governed by the quantities the product is going to be made. If in large quantities, the cost could be around $8 per assembly (not including case etc). If made in small quantities, the unit cost could be ~$30. I can definitely help in looking for a reliable manufacturer in China with reasonable manufacturing cost. If we could discuss the product in some details, it may be able to be simplified and made cheaper. Thanks for your attention. Hi, I have brilliant solution with minimal set of highly standard components. Apart cell, arduino and AC power,compontnts will cost - about $3-5 - retail price in online store (set for single pcb) - about $2-3 if you will have a serie One more question: "low battery and no AC power" case need to be supported too, otherwise Li-Po cell will die. It will work this way: circuit will preven currents (this mean Arduino hard shutdown) from Li-Pol if battery voltage become less or equal to safe voltage limit = 2.8v

Our company designs switched-mode power supply, a more complicated power supply. If what you need is a linear power supply then it will be much easier to design and I can guarantee it will be operational.
