Basic USB Ohmmeter

INITIAL PROJECT FOR A PROTOTYPE OF AN USB OHMMETER I need a prototype of a very basic (simplistic) USB ohmmeter along with its driver for Windows and a software template in whatever language. After testing I would need 5 more units for a field test (with possible, but unlikely, adjustments in design after initial testing.) HARDWARE specs This device is exclusively to measure the variations of resistance over time, from 1 Ohm to 1 MOhm with a definition of 1 Ohm (probably a range of 6.5 digits). The sampling frequency should be 10 Hz, but I would appreciate if it is adjustable through the USB at least for the initial test. Tell me how fast your prototype can run. The power supply should obviously come from the USB line. SOFTWARE specs The template should provide for the frequency adjustment (let’s say from 10 to 100 Hz with a 1 Hz resolution), and the device should preferably be run on interrupts and not on computer requests (handshake). The template should react to keyboard inputs by displaying a line of text (console mode is enough), while the measurement of the resistance should be displayed in real time. The choice of language is not critical, but it is appreciated if it could run on many different hardware configurations (such as iPhones and the like) as well as under different OSes (such as Android). REMARKS As the sampling frequency is rather low, I do not think it is necessary to have any buffer on the Ohmmeter. And anyway a standalone operation does match my application. I won’t describe this application for the time being but I believe the market is rather huge and so the stress is put on the production cost. A mini USB plug would also be interesting. I’ve seen Ohmmeters on the Web that are much too sophisticated and too expensive for what I have in mind, that’s why I look for a custom development. Besides, I guess that their software is miles away from what I really need. I expect the initial testing to take a week or less.
