I have passed the Academic Writing Exam on freelancer. I am very interested in this opportunity. I have published a few articles in small magazine markets. I tried to post this article before and after my rewrite, but since limited to 5000 characters, am unable to do so. Therefore, I am just posting my original article after rewrite. If you would like to see the original article before rewrite, please contact me and let me know how to send it to you. Thank you so much.
My original article after rewrite:
Not only my favorite weight loss book for 2011, but my favorite weight loss book ever is "Wheat Belly" by Dr. William Davis. Dr. Davis contends that wheat products have changed over the last 50 years because of genetic engineering. He says the new dwarf wheat that is grown makes blood sugar levels raise faster than sugar and is responsible for food cravings.
Dr. Davis says "Lose the wheat, lose the weight."
Before I bought the book I saw an article on the program featured in a women's magazine and immediately began the program. I bought the book as soon as it was available. I have tried his program for 21 days and have lost 17 pounds. I have been unable to lose weight any other way for at least the past 8 years. I joined a popular weight loss weekly meeting group earlier this year, stuck to the program rigidly and did not lose any weight. But with this program by Dr. Davis, I do not get hungry between meals for snacks. Once giving up all products made with wheat (like bread, crackers, biscuits, cereals, pancakes and waffles), I have lost the constant hunger and obsession with food I had. Dr. Davis also cites case after case of amazing weight loss stories. It is necessary to read the ingredients on food products, as wheat is found in items that would not be expected, for example veggie burgers and tomato soup. You can still have other starches (like potatoes, corn, brown rice and oatmeal), so I do not miss the wheat products that much. Dr. Davis claims the current crops of wheat being grown are addictive in nature, and the more someone eats of them the more they want. This seemed to be the case with me.
Not only a great program to lose weight, Dr. Davis says this is a great program to help with a myriad of health problems like diabetes, arthritis, mental health issues, and dementia. While wheat may not be the cause of such problems, it can exacerbate the symptoms. Much relief is provided by giving up wheat. Dr. Davis cites cases where it was possible to stop taking diabetes medications. Also giving up wheat may help in the fight against aging.
The book also provides some wonderful recipes for items like muffins and cookies made without wheat by using flaxseed, almonds and other ingredients. The recipes have opened up a whole new world of cooking for me, making it easier to stick to this program.
I would recommend this book and weight loss program to anyone who has had problems losing weight by other methods.
