This project concerns cutting edge new technology for organic semiconductors, and solid-state organic solar cells. You are a chemist with good access to a university library and chemistry databases such as Reaxys, Sci Finder, Chemical Abstracts, Gmelin etc. In this project you will look for suitable scientific aricles, and forward the abstracts and/or full texts of the articles to me. I need articles which discuss the E.C., that is the effeciency of bulk heterojunction solar cells comprised of dithienyl-DPP donors and low cost "fused ring" acceptors, which are solutiion processible. I need dithienyl-DPP donors which can be synthesized in as few as 3-5 simple steps. Ideally we could synthesize in a couple of steps a dithienyl-DPP semiconductor (for use as a transistor), and then further synthesize the same molecule to make a donor for a bulk heterojunction solar cell. I have a good article describing many dithienyl-DPP which function as semiconductive (transistors) and donors for solar cells. I have already picked out the likely "fused ring" acceptors also. Ideally you could use a chemistry database and enter the dithienyl-DPP donor and the "fused ring" acceptor, and quickly get some articles which discuss their use in solar cells.
