Hi, An interesting project and well described. I have been involved in microcontroller based product design for many years, from concept development to production and testing. By skills include design, coding, PCB design and layout and most things associated with developing a product such as yours. I also have the tools available to create functional prototypes. Regarding your application, the only issue I can forsee would be the ability to reliability of the instrument to detect the actual fill status of the bin, since if it is manually loaded its unlikely that the material in the bin is evenly distributed. It is not clear from your brief if you expect production ready documentation for full scale manufacture or if you want a fully functional prototype. I believe the 1 month time scale would be unrealistic for production docs. As you were planning on using the Arduino as the base for the product I would suggest that the prototype be assembled using boards modules and shields available for that style of product. Translating that prototype to a custom assembly is then very straightforward. My bid includes one set of hardware, however its likely that a second set (for you) would be required at some stage. Hello, I am an embedded engineer from Bulgaria and I am currently working at the Bulgarian Academy of Science. In the past I have done a similar project like the one that you have posted. It was related to measure the water level of few rivers every half an hour and send the data via GPRS to SQL server. The project was done with Arduino compatible board, ultrasonic sensor (few of them) and a GSM/GPRS module (SIM800 and SIM900 were tested and implemented). Overall the equipment (excluding the batteries) costs a bit less than 60$. The GSM module that I used have the ability to send/receive voice calls, SMS and data.
