I need a new logo for a small to medium sized building and construction business. The name of the business is Design 028 Pty Ltd. The business has been in existence for nearly 30 years so I'd like to include the establishment year of 1987 in the logo (eg. "Est. 1987"). The business is based in Melbourne, Australia and it does small to medium construction jobs for residential and commercial clients. Bathroom renovations, kitchen renovations, painting and other commercial building services are offered. I'd also like to see perhaps a modern, woodgrain effect incorporated in the logo as a reference to the building trade. Please do not include the "Pty Ltd" in the logo. Just the "Design 028" (that's a zero, not the letter "O").
Additionally, the business offers professional architectural services so some sort of reference to architecture in the logo would be great.
The logo will be used on websites, letterheads, invoices and business cards. I don't have any guidelines in terms of font or colour so I'm open to all your suggestions!
Overall I'm looking for an understated and modern logo. Please feel free to ask me any questions to further clarify the brief for you. Thanks and good luck!

Hi, one last idea - what if you got rid of the picture and just had the words, but part of the "N" in Design could be drawn with those "architectural lines" instead? Something like that?

  Sure. I guess I'm looking for a logo that signifies building in a symbolic way, rather than having pictures of houses with windows and pictures of handymen and pictures of tools. I need it to be more mature than that so I thought woodgrain would be more textural and represent building and renovations rather than a picture of a hammer. Hope that makes sense!
