Ciao! As far as I can see, you have three options here: 1. You can hire a big-time expensive developer and get a beautiful website without knowing if anyone will join in. 2. You can hire a cheap developer and get a crappy website where no one will be able to log in... 3. Or....you can wait before spending your money and validate your idea following the lean startup philosophy (please, google it, its gonna help you). My recommendation is to use sharetribe or any other system to create a marketplace, test the concept and, if it works, only then invest in a marketplace of your own. Sharetribe (the only one I know) is about 80usd per month, its high but its not as bad as paying 4000usd... As for me, Im no developer but Im a web entrepreneur and have lots of experience on startups, market research and business analysis.
